Succesful workshop at De Rode Hoed
Last Sunday, our exploratory workshop Intermedialities: Theory, History, Practice finished. Everybody agreed that it had been a rich and dense workshop, with excellent presentations, good discussions, and concrete plans for the future, both in the short and the long run. The pluriformity of the group (coming from 7 different nations and from various backgrounds) contributed much to the overall results. The presence of the ESF representant Arianna Ciula as well as Maaike Lauwaert from the Mondriaan Foundation was extremely useful in making plans. De Rode Hoed was an excellent venue (if you get used to the old stairs and the low ceilings in the hallway). The conference dinner at Zeppos was tasteful, cosy and relaxed. Our boat tour along the newer parts (KNSM, Eastern islands) and older parts (Herengracht, Keizersgracht) of Amsterdam was a good treat after an intense Saturday of talks. That day was well finished with ricetables at an Indonesian restaurant afterwards (even if service was a bit slow, but, well, we are in the middle of the tourist season). All in all, a fruitful and enjoyable workshop; thank you organizers, attendees, venues and ESF!
